Privacy Policy
Particle Studio is made by a small team and designed so that as little as possible leaves your phone. Videos are rendered on the device, saved rigs are stored on the device, and there is no account to create. This page explains the exceptions — the third-party services the app relies on for advertising, statistics and payments — and the choices you have.
What we collect, and what we don't
We do not run servers that store your data. There is no sign-in, and we never see your name, email address or contact details unless you write to us. The content you make in the app — the rigs, the text you type into text particles, any photo you pick as a background or wrap onto a particle, and the videos you export — stays on your device and is never uploaded by the app.
What the app does send, through the third-party services below, is limited to:
- Usage events — which features are used, when an export starts and finishes, at what quality and frame shape, and when the subscription screen is shown. These never include the text you type, the images you choose, or file names.
- Device and app information — device model, operating system version, app version, language, country (derived from IP address), and a randomly generated app-instance identifier.
- Advertising identifier — the resettable Android advertising ID, used by the ad network to serve and measure ads.
- Purchase state — whether a subscription is active, as reported by Google Play. We do not receive your payment details.
Third-party services
The app integrates the following Google services. Each processes data under its own privacy policy, and Google acts as an independent controller for the data it collects through them.
- Google AdMob (advertising) — shows banner, interstitial and rewarded ads in the free tier. AdMob may collect the advertising ID, IP address, device information and coarse location to serve and measure ads, which may be personalised depending on your device settings and region. How Google uses information from ads.
- Google Analytics for Firebase (statistics) — records the anonymous usage and device information described above so we can see which features are used and where exports fail. Data is retained by Google according to its Firebase retention settings and is not linked to you by name. Firebase privacy and security.
- Google Play Billing (subscriptions) — handles Premium purchases. Google processes your payment; the app receives only the purchase status. Google Privacy Policy.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone other than the services above.
Permissions the app asks for
- Photos and media — only when you choose to pick a background image or a particle texture. The image is read on the device and never uploaded.
- Notifications — to show render progress and tell you when a background export has finished.
- Foreground service — so a long render keeps running when you switch apps. This is what the progress notification belongs to.
- Internet — for the advertising, analytics and billing services above.
Your choices
- Ad personalisation — turn it off, or reset your advertising ID, in Android Settings → Google → Ads (the exact path varies by device). Ads still show in the free tier; they are simply not personalised.
- Stop all collection — subscribing to Premium removes ads entirely. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored on the device, including saved rigs and any ad-funded unlocks.
- Your rights — if you are in the EEA, UK, California or another region that grants rights over personal data, you may ask us what we hold and request its deletion. Because we hold nothing on our own systems, requests about advertising or analytics data are handled through Google's own controls linked above; we will help you find them. Write to support@particlestudio.tech.
Children
Particle Studio is not directed at children under 13 (or the age of digital consent where you live), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has used the app and data has been collected through the services above, contact us and we will help you have it removed.
Security
Nothing you create is transmitted, so there is nothing of yours in transit to protect. The small amount of local state the app keeps — saved rigs, unlock timers, subscription status — is stored in the app's private storage, with entitlement data encrypted using the device keystore.
Changes to this policy
If we change what the app collects, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect. Material changes will also be noted in the app's update notes.
